Discover how to create high-quality language and literacy provision through enabling environments, purposeful interactions and meaningful play. The conference will explore:

Creating environments where language and literacy are planned, visible and purposeful.
Developing provision that promotes talk, storytelling, story language and a love of reading.
Embedding purposeful literacy opportunities within play.
Maximising the impact of adult-led and incidental interactions to enrich children's language and literacy.
Supporting the precursors to literacy, with a focus on physical development.

Creating inclusive provision that supports all children to make meaningful progress in communication and language.
Fostering positive partnerships with parents and carers to strengthen communication and language development beyond the classroom.
Effective approaches to communication and language interventions, including the NELI (Nuffield Early Language Intervention) programme.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to visit Early Years classrooms to see effective practice in action and take part in professional discussion and planning to support implementation in their own setting.

This conference will focus on developing high-quality early writing through effective provision, purposeful teaching and meaningful opportunities for children to write. Together, we will explore:

Building the foundational skills for writing, with a focus on gross and fine motor development.
Creating opportunities for incidental writing, mark making and secure letter formation, including adaptations to provision that support all learners.
Developing children's transcription skills to build confidence and fluency in early writing.
Supporting composition by encouraging children to communicate ideas, give meaning to their marks and write for a range of authentic purposes.
