Intensive Support
Following an audit, eligible schools can access bespoke school- to- school support from one of our highly skilled Literacy Specialists. Becoming a partner school enables access to between three and fifteen literacy specialist days between one and three years. Literacy specialist days provide ongoing support in reading practice and language development and these develop subject knowledge, leadership capacity and sustain data and progress.
Eligible partner schools will meet at least two of the following criteria:
• Lower than average PSC scores for disadvantaged pupils
• Lower than average percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check
• Higher than average proportion of children eligible for pupil premium (2024/25: 24.8%)
• High proportion of groups considered hard to reach such as EAL, FSM, travellers
• Referral by local partners (e.g. Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE), National Leaders of Education (NLEs), Local Authorities (LAs)
• Standards in phonics have been identified as areas for development through Ofsted inspection findings
• A risk of declining standards in phonics
If your school meets two of these, and you would like to get involved in the English Hub programme, please email us at englishhub@newwavefederation.co.uk
